The Dance Academy program provides an enriching dance education for students in Years 7-10, offering two sessions per week throughout the school year.
The Dance Academy supports students in developing their dance technique, theoretical knowledge, improvisation skills, performance artistry and dance analysis. The program also helps prepare students for General and ATAR Dance courses, as well as future dance pathways, including the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).
Students explore a range of genres and styles tailored to their year level. They rehearse during class time and perform at key school and community events, including the annual Dance Showcase, Kinross College Open Evening, Student Choreography Showcase, and other school events throughout the year.

Dance Academy Expression of Interest for Incoming Students – 2027
DANCE AUDITION
Auditions for students entering Year 7 in 2027 will be held on Wednesday 9 September 2026. Students will be allocated a 10-minute audition slot between 2:00pm – 4:30pm in the Kinross College Performing Arts Theatre.
The audition will involve two parts:
- Solo performance:
Students are required to prepare a solo in a genre of their choice. Students are encouraged to use their opportunity to show their strengths and include any skills they would like to demonstrate. - Student interview:
After the solo, students will complete a short interview with the Dance Coordinator.
Students should wear appropriate dancewear and bring a water bottle on the day.
