Therapy Dog

Therapy Dog

Meet our Therapy Dog, Camembert, who is a 5 year old Australian Shepherd who is specifically trained to work in schools.

Camembert has been working since he was 18 months old both at primary schools and high schools. Bear has been qualified first by K9 support in Victoria and then completed his requalification through Complete K9 Solutions in Western Australia. Bear loves to greet students at the gate at the start of every working day and enjoys all the extra attention. His favourite games to play when he’s not working are tug-o-war and soccer. While Camembert takes his job seriously when he’s at work, he is a cheeky pup at home and likes to get out his extra energy running around the yard with his favourite toy or chasing the Frisbee.

Camembert belongs to our School Chaplain, Sally Messenger. He visits Kinross College regularly from Tuesday to Thursday, and is based in the Chaplain’s office. He goes on duty at break times and is available for anyone to come pat him then, as well as being in selected classes on Tuesday’s to help create a positive working and learning environment. At other times Bear sits in with students that talk to the Chaplain and helps them to feel comfortable.
