Health & Physical Education

A diverse range of sports are offered to students in Yrs 6 to 10. The focus in Yrs 6 yrs and 7 is on developing and extending fundamental skills and strategies, transferable across many sports and in Yrs 8 to 10, concentrating on more technical development of sport specific skills and strategies.

All students participate in an athletics program each year leading into the whole College Athletics Carnival in Term 3. PE staff hold equal value for, and commitment to, students developing a range of self-management skills, interpersonal skills and leadership capabilities.

College Carnivals

As well as our annual whole College Athletics Carnival, we also coordinate a cross country event for students in Yrs 6 & 7 in Term 1. This allows the selection of a training squad leading up to the Interschool and Champion Schools’ cross country events in Term 3.
Given our proximity to the beach and in place of a traditional swimming carnival, we offer a Beach Carnival for Yrs 8-10 in Term 4, providing opportunity for students to compete in a range of traditional and novelty surf lifesaving events.

Interschool Carnivals

Every student has the opportunity to represent the College in a chosen sport at their year group Lightning Carnival. These carnivals are participation based (non-competitive), and are designed to advocate healthy participation in sport, socialisation outside students’ College cohort and access to local community venues.

Interschool Sports

For our more talented and competitive students, the College offers a range of interschool sporting opportunities through School Sport WA (SSWA). These include cross country, track and field (athletics), soccer, basketball, netball and AFL. Other sports may be offered depending on the timing of competition in relation to the College calendar and the level of interest and capability amongst students.
