The Netball Academy At Kinross College

Our sporting academies take a holistic approach to student sporting excellence to not only grow the athlete but person too. This Academy offers:

What's Offered Through The Netball Academy At Kinross College:

Kinross College Netball Academy combines practical and theoretical components of netball and general fitness for year 7 to 10 student athletes. The Kinross College Academies (basketball, netball and soccer) follow a holistic approach to sporting as it looks to not just grow the athlete but the person also. By engaging in various sessions and workshops throughout the years.

Our program is one of few which offers a professional and well equipped course with state of the art resources. Developing student’s physical and technical knowledge of the game is our aim here at Kinross College.  This unique program follows a holistic approach to coaching and is game centred. Also shadowing Netball Western Australia coaching guidelines.

This allows for a proficient learning sequence to take place throughout each year level, becoming more challenging for students each year. We pride ourselves on delivering a well-rounded program for each student to thrive within.

  • Year 7 & 8 students are allocated 2 timetabled lessons a week (2 hours in total) and one hour before school training session.
  • Year 7 & 8 Focus on basic skill (in accordance to the Netball Australia Netball Skills Curriculum) fitness development, teamwork and an introduction to sports science, administration, umpiring and coaching skills.
  • Year 9 & 10 on Further develop skills and strategies (in accordance with the Netball Australia Netball Skills Curriculum), administration, coaching, umpiring, bench officiating and sports science.
  • Year 9 & 10 students are allocated three timetabled lessons per week: two practical and one theory with one before school.
  • Game Play Development.
  • Physical development – High Performance Strength and Conditioning Program.
  • Psychology Development – sport psychology, goal setting, leadership and communication skills.
  • Advance Sport Analysis – Researching and identifying a deeper knowledge on tactics of the game. Analysing whole team and individual game play.

Trials to be conducted in term 2 for incoming year 7 student athletes, places per year group will be limited.

Entry into the netball academy is through trial and primary / previous school report. Applications to be directly handed in to Kinross College, more information to come.

Head Coach / Coordinator

Tercia Deverneuil is the coordinator/head coach.

Tercia’s current roles include:

  • State Schools assistant u12 boys coach 2023,
  • Fever in Time assistant coach U14 2023,
  • Curtin Hamersley comets apprentice academy coach 2022/ 2023,
  • Joondalup Netball Association U13 B coach 2023,
  • Saints Netball Club Coach U18 B, U15 C and D 2023.

Tercia brings with her 15 years of playing experience at various different levels.
