School Student Broadband Initiative provides free home internet for unconnected families with school-aged students until 31 December 2025.
This Australian Government initiative is a targeted affordability measure to boost education opportunities and narrow the digital divide. NBN Co is leading the implementation of this initiative and will provide vouchers for free internet for a limited number of eligible Western Australian families.
The Australian Government School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI) is offering free home internet for eligible families with school-aged students until 31 December 2025.
To be eligible, families must:
• have no active broadband service
• have a device capable of accessing the internet
• live in premises where they can access a standard NBN service
• have a child living at home who is enrolled in an Australian school.
The free broadband starts from the day the service is activated with a participating internet provider. Families will not be placed on a paid service by the internet provider at the end of the free service without consent.

The Year 10 Mock Trials team completed their final trial of the round-robin stage. The young ladies performed admirably against Fremantle College, with the judge having high praise for the team. The judge remarked that she would not want to be a witness being cross-examined by our barristers!

In week 9 this term, our 9 KEA HASS class welcomed ECU Lecturer Alexander Best to receive industry feedback on our portfolio submissions. Our class had been developing career portfolios during our study of Economics and Business in the hopes of preparing to begin a dream career. We used the opportunity to learn about the importance of forming industry connections and collecting career evidence from an industry expert; it was a truly unique but invaluable experience.

Gingerbread houses have been a festive tradition in Germany since the 16th century. This week, our Year 9 International Food students took on the challenge of making and decorating miniature gingerbread houses. The STEM department contributed by printing the 3D templates for the houses which were designed by the Home Ed Dept.
Earlier in the week, students prepared and baked the gingerbread dough using these templates. Today was assembly day, where they used royal icing and various decorations to bring their creations to life. Year 11 Metalwork students have been introduced to a plasma cutter, a tool that cuts through metal by creating a high-speed jet of hot plasma. This method melts the material, and the gas blows the molten metal away. Plasma cutters are widely used in industrial fabrication, automotive repair, art, construction, and metal recycling due to their speed, precision, and versatility.
